The Masked Singer: Katharine McPhee and husband David Foster unmask after performing as Banana Split

Katharine McPhee and David Foster were eliminated on The Masked Singer on Wednesday after performing in the Group B finals as Banana Split.

The 37-year-old former American Idol finalist wore the ice cream portion of the frozen dessert costume while her husband David, 72, was dressed as a giant banana.

Katherine even showed off her tap dancing skills while on stage as they performed Singin’ In The Rain.

‘A tap dancing ice cream, people, come on,’ remarked panelist Nicole Scherzinger, 43, who was wearing a sleek white fitted dress. ‘Your vocals sound like a record.’

The judges gave their final guesses before Banana Split was unmasked.

Nicole, Ken Jeong, 52, and Jenny McCarthy, 48, all stuck with their First Impression guesses that it was Grammy-winner David and his singer-songwriter wife Katherine.

Robin, 44, said he knew David growing up and referred to him as ‘Uncle Dave’ and declared that it wasn’t him.

‘Uncle Dave would never come on this show as a banana,’ he said. ‘He would come on as a yacht, as a helicopter, or a killer whale.’

Robin thought Banana Split was a collaborative singer/producer team such as Leona Lewis and Ryan Tedder.

Earlier in the show, Robin performed with Banana Split on the Stevie Wonder song Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing. At the end of the song, the ice cream character did a split on stage.

Ken, Nicole and Jenny were all blown away when Katherine and David unmasked and they realized they were right.

Show host Nick Cannon, 40, asked them what it was like being Banana Split.

‘You literally feel that you are part of some weird circus act,’ Katharine said.

David said it was kind of thrilling to try to fool the panelists, who he knew with the exception of Ken, but that he didn’t really end up fooling any of them.

‘You guys guessed us right away, what the heck,’ Katharine said.

Nick said he was hoping that he would sing, but David said there was no reason for him to sing with ‘this incredible singer on stage’ pointing to his wife.

Jenny asked if they bickered like a normal couple doing the show and Katharine said no. She said they just decided to be as silly as they could possibly be.

‘We are not a conventional relationship. There can be a lot of quick judgments about me and him together,’ Katharine said.

‘We just thought ”Wow, this is just a cool opportunity to present ourselves.” We just truly love each other and it’s best not to judge people, right?,’ she added.

Katharine then kissed David and told him that she loved him. She took the stage for a final time still wearing her ice cream outfit to sing Singin’ in the Rain again.

David joined the panelists who stood clapping during Katherine’s performance. She stood on top of the judge table as she belted out a big finish.

Queen Of Hearts was declared the winner from Group B and will compete against the Bull in next week’s season six finale. She was dressed in a giant red heart costume with blue lips mask and sang the Sia song Bird Set Free surrounded by a group of dancers.

The emotional song had Nicole and Ken in tears by the end.

‘All hail the queen,’ said Nicole. ‘Probably one of my favorite performances ever on this show.’

Ken told her that they were honored to be in her presence. Nicole said she was feeling that she was the singer Jewel.

Before Queen Of Hearts took the stage to sing a duet with Nicole, Hilary Swank sent her a video message of encouragement. Nicole, dressed in a floor-length sequin embellished white dress, performed her portion of Dream On by Aerosmith from a side stage.
