Sky reveals new way to watch TV with prices starting from just £1 and no need for a dish

Date:

Sky is shaking up the TV market with the launch of a new service that will cost less than £1 per day. The satellite telly firm is promising that its new Sky Stream platform will offer more affordable prices, better flexibility and the chance to tune into its services without the need for a dish to be stuck to the wall.

Sky Stream uses the same technology as the Sky Glass TV with all content beamed to the mini set-top box via a broadband connection. Along with all the best live TV, Sky Stream will also offer full access to catch-up services and an easy way to view shows and movies from premium services such as Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+.

Those signing up can take out a rolling monthly contract for £29 per month or sign up for 18 month deal for £26 – both of these plans include Sky Ultimate TV and Netflix Basic.

Anyone wanting more to watch can then add extras such as Sky Cinema, Sky Sports and BT Sport with the monthly price rising depending on what is added. There’s even the option to boost things via the addition of UHD 4K and Dolby Atmos.

Sky Stream will launch on October 18.

Speaking about the launch, Stephen van Rooyen, Executive Vice President & CEO, UK & Europe, Sky said,

“Sky’s always reinvented the TV experience and offered the best content – but it’s not always been accessible to everyone. There couldn’t be a better time to launch our latest innovation using the Sky Glass Platform – whether you want to stream House of the Dragon, Gangs of London or Stranger Things, Sky Stream has it all. It’s the most affordable and easiest way to get Sky TV and Netflix together, offering consumers the value they are seeking right now.”
