MIGRANTS made a desperate bid to cross the Channel in freezing conditions – hours before the UK’s Brexit transition period ended on the last day of the year yesterday.

It brings an end to a record-breaking year of migrants arriving by small boats across the Channel.
It is believed more than 8,500 migrants crossed the Channel in 2020.
Yesterday they were seen being escorted up the gangway at Dover Marina by Border Force immigration officers with their grey rigid hulled inflatable boat moored for evidence.
The Home Office said 33 migrants arrived on four boats yesterday and 15 reached on two boats on Wednesday.
