Joe Judge is getting a chance to rehab his image in familiar territory.

The fired Giants head coach is returning to the Patriots as an offensive assistant, according to Sports Illustrated. The deal is reportedly expected to be finalized within days.

Judge, 40, spent eight years on Bill Belichick’s staff in New England before the Giants hired him as their head coach in 2020.

The Giants fired Judge in early January after two losing seasons. The move came a day after general manager Dave Gettleman retired ignominiously after four seasons. Judge went 10-23 in his two years in New York.

The news of Judge returning to Foxborough came a day after an ESPN report said the Raiders were interested in Judge as a special teams coordinator, the position he held with the Patriots during his final five years in New England.
