Rapper Cardi B on Tuesday tweeted Valentine’s Day gift advice that proved controversial: Men deserve gifts on the holiday, but only ones worth less than what they give to their partner.
“Men do deserve to get gift as well for Valentine’s Day, but the gift have to be less expensive then the girls gift . Soo if he buys you flowers you buy him grass,” the “Up” rapper wrote.
Twitter users responded with reminders that the Bronx-native gifted her husband rapper Offset with something a bit more pricey than grass for his 29th birthday: a Lamborghini.

“Not these women taking advice from someone whose husband bought her a $330k Rolls Royce, then she bought him a $700k Lamborghini,” one user wrote.
Another response read “Why do we deserve less? Lol!”
“But she bought a $700k Lamborghini for her man while her man gifted her $300k,” another wrote.
These tweets did not go unnoticed. Cardi B wrote the next day calling out the Lamborghini responses. In a tweet she listed all the other things her husband has given her that out price the Lamborghini she was called out for.
“I got 550K ring on my left hand ,400k ring on my right ,Thousands of dollars In Birkins ,soo much jewelry, a lambo truck and rollsRoyce truck,” she wrote “..so we even in gifts.”
In 2020, the female rapper’s “Birkins” (a designer purse made by Hermès known to be notoriously exclusive and retail for anywhere between $9,000 to $500,000) caused a stir on social media.
A tweet went viral calling out “female rappers” by questioning the authenticity of their Birkin bags and saying the women “depreciate the value” of the purse. Cardi B shared a four-minute video to Instagram in response to the tweet.
“We start trends and when y’all think that we devalue (expletive). No, we add value,” Cardi B said. “And another thing is why when a Black girl, why when a Hispanic girl have a bag y’all have to question it? ‘Oh, is it fake?’ or ‘She’s a scammer.’ “

The “WAP” rapper’s last response to the Valentine’s Day gift inequality gave another example of gift ideas for those who were unhappy with the grass proposal.
“So if ya don’t like the flowers & grass comparisons let me give ya one that make men happy. If you buy her thousand dollars Louboutin heels she should buy you a ps5 that’s around 550$,” she wrote Friday.
