Tracy Smith figured nobody would mind if she pulled into an empty parking lot so her 4-year-old daughter could ride her bike for a half-hour or so.

Instead, the Brit got slapped with a $103 fine for pulling into a space without paying — even though the business, the Green Parrot pub, has been closed for weeks because the UK’s full COVID-19 lockdown, the Sun reported.

Smith and her husband, who live in Cornwall, both lost their jobs because of the pandemic and are struggling to make ends meet.

They stopped at the parking lot on their way back from getting their van fixed by a mechanic.

A few days later, the ticket came in the mail.

“There’s nowhere to go, nothing to do, we have no jobs and can only go out from our doorstep,” Smith said, “and now we’re being penalized for trying to give our daughter some exercise on her bike.”

Euro Car Parks, which operates the parking lot, told Smith she must pay the fine, which left her fuming. The Sun contacted the company for comment.

“I think it’s absolutely disgusting in these current times,” Smith said. “These companies are hitting people for genuine mistakes.”
